What We Learned From the
2023 Tax Season

Here we are, just on the other side of April. This was our best tax season yet! And here's why:

Our Team

Now we may be partial, but please let us gush just a little about the amazing tax team here at Gold Standard.

This year, our team grew by two members! We invested in training and saw the payoff over the last four months. Understandably, they had more pressing tasks to tend to, but we can't wait to introduce them to you!

Our Clients

At Gold Standard, we truly believe that we serve the cream of the crop of small business owners.

Here's what many of you did that we truly appreciated (and encourage you to keep doing!):

• When you read our emails to you thoroughly and reply to them promptly.

This helps to improve efficiency on our end. When we receive your replies quickly, it saves time in completing your return from start to finish. Otherwise, we must move on to another return, then come back to yours days (or sometimes weeks!) later once we've received a response.

• Reviewing your own year-end documents before sending these items to us.

Doing this ensures you haven't forgotten to submit any necessary forms or documents. Way to take ownership!

How Can We Improve?

Even though this was the best tax season yet, we are always looking for ways to improve- it’s the Gold Standard way!

• We want to encourage our clients to upload any documents via the link that we provide. Not only is this more efficient, but, since our upload link is encrypted, it is far more secure. While our email is also secure, it is still unwise to send documents through email. This is because a client’s provider or network may not be secured.

• This year, many of our clients chose to vacation during tax season. While we love seeing them nail the whole work-life balance thing, we hate bothering them when they're trying to relax! We avoid this when a client sends us everything we need, and answers any questions we may have, before the vacation begins.

Feeling Good

Tax season brings with it an unrelenting pace for tax preparers. But we understand that this time can be stressful for you too. Money is a funny thing. We’ve all heard the phrase, “It’s not personal, it’s business!” While that is partly true, money is most definitely personal. Trust us, we spend a lot of time talking to people about their money.

Some spend decades grappling with a healthy relationship to it. It’s this ever-present part of life. It touches everything we do. Money is often what makes us feel safe. Other times, it can make us feel insecure.

We get it. But if there’s one thing we want our clients to believe about this company, it’s that we are here to help. We are here to weather the storms that an ever-changing economy heaps upon us, regardless of industry.

We are feeling satisfied as we enter this calmer time of year. But planners that we are, we also look forward to doing it all over again, even better, next tax season. Let’s work together and help each other to succeed.
