Find out when you get your refund
The best time of tax season is when you get your refund, right? Did you know you can actually get the IRS official app right on your phone to exactly when you get that refund back? “Where’s My Refund?” on IRS.gov and the IRS2Go phone app will be updated with projected deposit dates for early EITC and ACTC refund filers a few days after Feb. 15. You as a taxpayer can see a refund date on
“Where’s My Refund?” or through the IRS2Go app packages then. The IRS, tax
preparers and tax software will not have additional information on refund dates, so Where’s My Refund? remains the best way to check the status of a refund. You can also use this app to get updates on the
latest tax news, order tax return transcripts, or contact the IRS. Oh, and did we mention, the app is free
How to use the IRS2Go app:
- Download the app directly to your smart phone by searching “IRS2Go” in your application store. Downloading, again, is free.
- Insert your personal information that is immediately promoted after opening the app.
- Click “get status”
- That’s it!
Track your deductible mileage
What if you are using your own car to travel to clients, get to a work space and run errands for your business? You can deduct the costs associated with these trips. You just need to keep record of your business miles according to the standard mileage rates established by the IRS. You could also keep records of all your actual expenses and deduct a percentage based on business versus personal use of your vehicle. Again, there’s an app for that. Download a mileage tracker, like the Quickbooks Self-Employed Mile Tracker, right to your phone. There are quite a few out others there that you can also download for free, like Mile IQ and Mileage Expense Log (MEL).
